Parc Naturel Regional Causses du Quercy, Lot Region (South-East of Dordogne)

Nature reserve to the east of the Dordogne region in Lot

featured in Sights & sites

The limestone plateaus of the Causses du Quercy are well known for their rich biodiversity, culture and history. Here you will find plenty of outdoor activities for all the family to enjoy.

Stretching from the town of Rocamadour in the north right down past Saint-Cirq-Lapopie in the south this nature park is as rich below ground as it is above. The Gouffre de Padirac is situated right at the northern tip of the park and is often referred to as the underground Venice due to its waterways and boats that 'punt' visitors through impressive open chasms and caves.

There are many walking and cycling trails that are signposted throughout the park, making it easier to explore and enjoy.

Worth knowing

Right in the centre of the park, over an area of around 30 square kilometres, you can admire the “purest” sky of France. This stretch of sky is an astronomers’ heaven with the lowest light pollution of the country.
