With one of the oldest bell towers in France this abbey is set into the cliff face and overlooks the Dronne river, a beautiful centre piece to this delightful town.
The restored part of the abbey along with the old stone bridge, weir and pretty mill have now been turned into a hotel and restaurant. The abbey was built by Charlemagne in 769 and is the main historical highlight of the town. Behind the abbey you will find the mysterious cave of the 'Last Judgement'. These are the remains of the original abbey and during the summer you can do a night-time visit of the troglodyte section - very atmospheric.
You can take a tour of the abbey which allows you to climb to the top of the tower and experience the spectacular views.
