Wine in Dordogne
Discover the top Dordogne wine producers
Sharing the same Atlantic influence as neighbouring Bordeaux, the Bergerac and Dordogne river region produce some very fine Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Bordeaux blends.
The temperatures can be slightly warmer inland and so Dordogne enjoys dry reds, whites and rosés, as well as sweet dessert wines. You can look for regional names such as Bergerac, Montravel (dry white blends), Pécharment (big reds), and sweet wines from Saussignac, Rosette and Monbazillac.

Bergerac
The wines grown around Bergerac cover an area of approximately 12,000 hectares and contain 13 appellations.

Cahors
Producing unique reds, this wine appellation grows mainly the Auxerrois Malbec grape, with some Merlot and Tanat. Unusually no Cabernet grapes are permitted in its wines.

Saint-Emilion
The pretty region of St Emilion has been producing wine for centuries, and the variety of terrain here means wine of great diversity is produced here.
