1. La Chartreuse du Bignac Hotel, St Nexans

The property is set a short distance from the centre of Bergerac, with 360 degree views of the surrounding vineyards. There are 12 hectares of grounds with 12 uniquely decorated rooms to choose from.

All bedrooms have their own character, many of which expose their original wood beams and stonework. The dining room has an open fireplace and all the rooms are well equipped with Wifi, hairdryers, Espresso machines, mini bars and flat-screen TVs.

Spaces are available for conferences and business meetings and the property can also be hired for private events.

2. Chateau La Thuiliere, Saint Front de Pradoux

The white brick, red timber frames and slate roofs of this gorgeous château make an impressive impact. Inside it has been converted into a sleek and chic boutique hotel, which fabulously mixes the old features of the château with the modern interior design.

The château is surrounded by organic growers and producers, the restaurant combines the culinary tradition of the Dordogne with those of the owner's Hispanic roots all served with a modern twist.

3. Chateau des Vigiers, Monestier

Dating back to 1597, Château des Vigiers is an internationally-renowned Hotel, Golf & Country Club. There are rooms in the historic château building, as well as in the Périgord style "Dépendances" building and in the eco-friendly Relais which takes the style of the regional tobacco barns. 

There are 25 uniquely decorated rooms on the premises, each with a little French taste of times gone by. The rooms and building itself will enchant as well as relax, with masterpiece fireplaces, curving staircases and immaculate grounds. 

Home to a 27 hole golf course, rated in the top 10 in South-West France. It is includes a driving range, practice greens and bunkers, as well as on-site professionals.

Also within the grounds is a beauty, health and well-being centre with a number of different treatments and therapies at your disposal. So with Bergerac and Bordeaux just a short distance away, it makes for the perfect weekend retreat for golf and/or pleasure.

4. Chateau de Lanquais, Lanquis

Self-titled as the "Unfinished Louvre in Périgord", this château combines medieval fortifications with an incomplete Renaissance palace. 

Built by the architects who designed the Louvre, the catholic-style palace was apparently attacked by Protestants during construction, leaving its façade badly damaged. The building works were never completed. Two of its impressive rooms have been converted into bedrooms where guests can stay

This château has been now transformed into a contemporary, stylish and modern comfort hotel with 12 rooms, two suites and a spacious apartment. The contrast with the original architecture and the modern touch makes Les Merles a luxurious, charming and attractive hotel whilst still retaining an intimate, friendly and cosy atmosphere. Within the grounds, there is a spa, golf course, tennis courts and a swimming pool.

There are four different room types, standard double, luxury double, suite and apartment.  They have all been renovated recently, with a contemporary style to contrast the elegance of the 17th century castle.  

The rooms include bathrobe and slippers, hair dryer, flatscreen TV, safe, free WiFi and a telephone.

Children are welcome at the Château, and are catered for in the restaurant with a separate menu.
