Grottes de Presque, Saint-Cere

Enjoy a guided tour of the subterranean world of the Dordogne

featured in Sights & Sites

These caves were originally discovered in 1825 and house some impressively large stalagmite pillars reaching up to 10 metres in height and varying in colour.

There are also more delicate fine formations in these well-lit caves. So far about 200 metres of caves have been discovered, though only a small amount of these are accessible to the public.

Tours take around 40 to 45 minutes, are guided, and available in English, German and Spanish as well as French. Photography is permitted within the cave, which is fairly unusual of caves in Dordogne region. Drinks are available in the small shop.
