Museum of the Raymondie & Gallo-Roman Museum of Uxellodunum
The Palais de la Raymondie stands next to the market hall in the heart of the medieval town of Martel. This museum contains objects dating from paleolothic, neolithic and Gallo-Roman occupations.
Discovered during archeological excavations in the north of Lot, the permanent collection includes arrow and spear heads found at the Puy d'Issolud (the site of Uxellodunum, the last battle between the Gauls and the Romans), a collection of pharmaceutical pots dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, ancient maps - some dating from the 17th century, seals of thesénéchaussée and the town of Martel and, new in 2016, an exhibit on cave bears (Ursus spelaeus) including a complete skull found locally.

When to come
The museum closes over the winter months, although group visits are still possible by arrangement in advance.
