Abbaye Saint-Pierre

Masterpiece of Romanesque architecture

Imprint
Updated

Founded by Saint Didier in the 7th century, this abbey really didn't flourish until the 11th century when the town was linked to the Anney of Cluny.

It is one of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture, with outstanding sculptures in the portal and ornate capitals around the cloister. It was the template used for many other regional churches.
