The wine produced on the lands of this château gained critical acclaim as early as the 4th century, when it was reputedly famous in Rome.
They produce one of only two Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé (A) wines in the appellation, the highest of the Grand Cru subdivisions.The vineyards extend over 7 hectares, composed mainly of Cabernet Franc grape variety, combined with Merlot.
