A boutique winery that creates the finest quality wines

featured in Vineyards & estates Updated

This winery is situated within a grand 19th-century cellar in a magical spot on the banks of the Dordogne in Castillon-la-Bataille, just a stone’s throw from the medieval town of Saint-Émilion.

Here you can experience firsthand their winemaking in action, and they'll even let you have a taste of a few in progress and give you a tour of the winery.

A stop in the shop is a must as you can taste the fabulous wines in the historic setting of Le Chai au Quai and have the chance to purchase the wines you love. Expect a roaring fire in the winter or step outside in the summer and taste some wines as the Dordogne river gently flows by. Expert help is on hand if you need it.

Worth knowing

This winery has no vineyards attached. In fact they source their grapes from all over France.

Visitor comments

  • "Booked a tour of the house and vineyard and were taken on a very interesting and informative tour by the lovely Bridgette. She clearly enjoyed her work and her enthusiasm for the winery was evident and contagious. Tried various wines and were not hurried or made to feel that we had to make a purchase. The wines took care of that side of things. The only problem was to choose what to buy and how to fit it in the car!" - Trip Advisor
  • "We pitched up at the door just after 14.00 to see the Laithwaite wines and how they were being made. We were lucky enough to be shown round by Marc Hoddy who was completely brilliant, showing us the red and white wine cellars and explaining in detail how the different wines were being vinified. Quite excellent." - Trip Advisor
  • "The young lady who gave us a tour and conducted the tasting was fantastic and very patient with us and our group's unusually well behaved 5 children. We were happy to buy a little of all the wine sampled and highly recommend a visit." - Trip Advisor
