Font-Blanque Loop, Lalinde

An easy walk with a few short steep sections in the countryside of Lalinde

Following part of the GR6 route through the Dordogne this walk takes you from Lalinde on a circular route through the surrounding countryside.

Enjoying the Dordogne river and the valley you will pass several interesting and historical spots, including the intriguing Chapelle Saint Front de Colubri. Legend has it that Saint Front killed a creature that was said to be eating the town residents and passers by. With the body of a snake, a dragon's head and a huge tail, it was thrown from the top of the cliff by Saint Front and the chapel was then erected on the site in his memory.

What to see

On your journey you will see one of the many beautiful bridges that cross over the Dordogne, the Fountain de Bousserand-Bas, the Fauteuil des Rois (chair of Kings), Font-Blanque and the Chapel Saint Front.

Directions

Leaving from Lalinde, take the bridge across the Dodogne in the direction of Sarlat. At 200m take a small road on the right. from here you can follow the orange triangle signage that will take you left, up a short steep hill and on to the plateau. Here you will find a small path to the Fauteuil des Rois (chair of Kings). Follow the signs to La Mothe where you will descend to the Fountain de Bousserand-Bas and back up to the farms of Bousserand-haut where you will once again find the path of the GR6. You can follow this path straight back to Lalinde, around 25 minutes. Or you can continue by taking the orange triangle signs on to Font-Blanque and across to the forest. by this route you will pass by the Chapelle and then make your way down again into Lalinde.
